Abbott Advises NH State Rep. Saggy Tahir In Re-Election Bid

Stephen Abbott Communications has been engaged to advise New Hampshire State Representative Saghir "Saggy" Tahir in his bid for re-election bid.

Abbott said he was honored to be helping Tahir.

"Saggy is a man of integrity, honesty and vision, and I hope voters in District 50 will recognize these qualities and allow him to continue serving in the House," he said.

Tahir, 57, is running in Manchester's Wards 2, 3, 10 and 11. Before the State Supreme Court's re-districting plan was implemented this summer, Tahir represented Ward 2, in which he resides and from which he was elected in 2000.

He won a place on the general election ballot after the Sept. 10, 2002 GOP primary, but now, the former Republican City Committee chairman faces a tough race in the three Democratic-leaning districts the court added to the district.

Abbott is re-focusing Tahir's general election campaign to highlight his centrist stands against school vouchers and a sales or income tax and for higher teacher accountability and a property tax cap for senior citizens.

Tahir's integrity during his first term - during which he refused to take a salary, mileage reimbursements or lobbyists' gifts or meals - is also an issue.

The campaign's slogan, "Saggy Tahir's record in the House: Duty, Integrity and Service. Let's keep him there ," emphasizes these themes in a balanced way that highlights his exemplary service in the House on behalf of the people.

Abbott created content for a Web site, www.saggystaterep.com that marries the campaign's message with graphic elements designed for the increasingly Internet-savvy voter.

Stephen Abbott Communications is currently considering offers for statewide races in the 2004 election cycle.
