Abbott Elected Concerned Taxpayers Chairman Stephen Abbott has been elected chairman of the Concerned Taxpayers of Manchester. He was chosen to lead the taxpayer advocacy group at its annual election Monday, April 18, 2005, at MacNeil’s Banquet Facility. Other officers elected for a one-year term include Roland Beaupre, vice-chairman and Michael Bodruk, Secretary. Lucille Stevens has agreed to remain on as the group’s Treasurer. The group’s newly elected Executive Board members are James Chan, Carol Ducasse, Andy Jackson, Bill Tickler, and outgoing chairman Jeff Kassel. Abbott said he looks forward to a successful year. "We will continue to be the watchdog on behalf of the taxpayers, and will hold candidates for office and incumbents accountable for their positions and their actions in office," he said. He said members of the group will be watching this year’s budget process especially carefully. In the last year, several elected and appointed city and school officials have spoken to the group on tax-related issues. Each city election year, the group hosts a debate between mayoral candidates. The non-partisan group, which is dedicated to being an advocate for taxpayers and keeping taxes low and the tax rate stable, meets on the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at MacNeil’s Banquet Facility at 837 Second Street.
